New MG Hector Tomahawk EV Spotted Undisguised Ahead of India Launch
The upcoming MG Hector Tomahawk EV has been spotted in its production-spec exterior during a TVC shoot in Pune, India.
## Road Test Verdict The MG Hector Tomahawk EV has been spotted in its production-spec exterior, giving us a clear look at its design ahead of its India launch. The SUV was seen during a TVC shoot at Magarpatta City in Pune, a location that has been used for automotive shoots on several occasions. ## True Cost of Living with the Car The Hector Tomahawk EV is expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560, but with changes specifically for the Indian market. It will become the first production vehicle to utilise MG's new ADAPT architecture in India, which is capable of supporting battery electric, plug-in hybrid, strong hybrid, and range-extender powertrains. The first model, however, has already been confirmed as a pure electric vehicle. The SUV is expected to use a 69.2 kWh LFP battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor, producing around 204 PS and 310 Nm. Its claimed range could be around 530 km on the CLTC cycle, although the final India-spec range certification and specifications could differ. A plug-in hybrid derivative could potentially follow at a later stage, given the flexibility of the ADAPT architecture. The Hector Tomahawk EV will enter India's growing three-row electric SUV space and is expected to rival models such as the Mahindra XEV 9S. With an undisguised production model now being used for a TVC shoot in Pune, an official reveal and launch should not be far away. The SUV's design is relatively clean and upright, with a closed-off upper section and a prominent MG badge positioned centrally. Slim horizontal LED DRLs extend outwards from the centre, while the main headlamp units are positioned vertically at the outer edges of the bumper. A large lower air intake can also be seen, featuring horizontal elements. The side profile gives a better idea of the overall dimensions and road presence, with a long wheelbase and an extended rear section to accommodate the third row of seats. The production model seen during the shoot also gets dual-tone alloy wheels with a geometric design. The glasshouse is relatively large, particularly around the second and third rows, which should help improve visibility and make the cabin feel more spacious. At the rear, the latest spy shots provide a partial glimpse of the tail lamp assembly, which appears to use a slim horizontal lighting signature extending towards the sides, consistent with what MG had shown in its earlier teasers. The company is yet to formally announce the production model's name, but it is expected to be called the Hector Tomahawk, given the trademarking of the name in India and the use of a Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk fighter aircraft in its latest teaser.
