Skoda Opens Bookings for Second Batch of Octavia RS in India
Skoda has announced a second batch of the Octavia RS for India, with 50 units expected to arrive around the festive season. The car will continue to be a full import, maintaining its premium pricing. Existing bookings will be prioritized before accepting new orders. The Octavia RS is powered by a 265hp 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and will be available in three color options.

Skoda has reopened bookings for the Octavia RS in India, following the sell-out of the first batch of 100 units last year. The second batch will consist of 50 units, with deliveries expected around the upcoming festive season. Despite its high price tag, the Octavia RS has garnered a loyal following in the Indian market, leaving many enthusiasts disappointed when the initial allocation was exhausted.
## Availability and Pricing
The company will first honor existing bookings from last year before opening the order books to new customers. Skoda India had previously received nearly 350 bookings for the Octavia RS. The first batch was launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 49.99 lakh, and the second batch is expected to maintain a similar premium pricing due to its full import status.
## Powertrain and Performance
The Octavia RS will continue to be powered by a 265hp, 370Nm 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Power is sent to the front wheels, and Skoda claims a 0-100kph time of 6.4 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250kph. The same engine is also used in the Volkswagen Golf GTI, which is expected to receive a second batch in India as well.
## Color Options
The new batch of the Octavia RS will be available in three color options:
| Color Option | |-------------------| | Mamba Green | | Velvet Red | | Magic Black |
The Octavia RS has enjoyed a cult status in India, with the previous-generation Octavia RS 245, limited to 200 units, selling out in just over a month.
This announcement comes alongside the debut of the Slavia facelift and the confirmation of the Superb’s return to India, notably in diesel guise, marking the return of a diesel engine to the Volkswagen Group in India after 2020. Skoda’s sedan lineup will span from mass-market to premium segments, a rarity in the current automotive landscape where many manufacturers have shifted away from sedans.
