Chery Patents Tiggo 4, Pup Pickup, Exeed EX7 REEV for India

Chery Automobile has filed design patents in India for three vehicles: an updated Tiggo 4 SUV, a Tiggo Pup compact pickup truck, and the Exeed EX7 REEV, a range-extended electric vehicle. These filings could indicate future launches under Chery's partnership with India's JSW Motors, or they may simply be intellectual property protection exercises.

New Chery Tiggo 4 Facelift

The patented Tiggo 4 represents a new, unreleased version of the compact SUV, not the model currently sold in markets like China, Australia, and the Middle East. The current model's dimensions are 4,330 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height, with a 2,610 mm wheelbase. It offers 180 mm of ground clearance and can be fitted with wheels up to 18 inches in size.

The new design features a split headlight setup with the main lights positioned vertically below. It also sports a new large grille, though the side and rear profiles remain similar to the current car. Inside, the cabin includes a twin-display dashboard, dual-zone air conditioning, leather seats, a powered driver's seat, and a 430-liter boot. Powertrain options are reported to be a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine or a strong hybrid system with a 1.83 kWh battery and electric drive.

Chery Tiggo Pup Pickup Truck

A second patent reveals a monobody compact pickup truck, tentatively named the Tiggo Pup. Chery has not confirmed production of this vehicle, and it has not been physically showed. The design sketch depicts a vehicle in the vein of a Ford Maverick or Hyundai Santa Cruz, with a muscular aesthetic featuring a rear roll cage, pronounced creases, and chunky wheel arch claddings.

The fascia and sporty rear profile, which appears to have connected LED tail lights, are highlighted in the report. The bed is described as short, unlike those on mid-size trucks like the Toyota Hilux. Details regarding the Tiggo Pup's interior and powertrain remain unknown.

Chery Exeed EX7 REEV Hybrid

The Exeed EX7 REEV (Range Extended Electric Vehicle) is the latest model from the brand to be patented in India. In this configuration, the internal combustion engine acts solely as a generator to charge the battery pack and does not drive the wheels directly. Propulsion is handled by a 41.16 kWh battery, with both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations available.

The vehicle's design emphasizes aerodynamics with rounded edges and smooth body surfacing. It features a split headlight setup with vertical elements, a connected LED daytime running light strip, and connected LED tail lights. It can be equipped with wheels up to 21 inches in diameter. Inside, the cabin is dominated by a gigantic 30-inch infotainment screen and a 23-speaker audio system. The EX7 REEV is also reported to offer Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) with LiDAR.
