Ferrari Amalfi Spider debuts in ASEAN region
The Ferrari Amalfi Spider, a 640 PS V8 convertible, has premiered in Kuala Lumpur. Ital Auto showcased the model, priced above RM3 million.

The Ferrari Amalfi Spider has made its ASEAN regional debut in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ital Auto presented the soft-top V8 model, which arrives just over five months after its global reveal.
This convertible version of the Amalfi coupe is essentially a refreshed Roma Spider. It measures 4,660 mm long, 1,974 mm wide, and 1,305 mm tall, with a 2,670 mm wheelbase. The design follows the minimalist front-end language of the coupe, though the removal of the roof required reworking the rear cabin section.
Top operation and comfort
The fabric soft top operates via a Z-fold kinematic system. Ferrari says it opens in 13.5 seconds and can be used while driving at speeds up to 60 km/h. The five-layer fabric roof is claimed to offer soundproofing and heat insulation comparable to a retractable hard top.
Four tailor-made fabric colours and two technical fabric options are available for personalisation. A new option called Tecnico Ottanio features a distinctive weave for a shimmering effect. With the top stowed, the mechanism is 220 mm thick. Boot space is 255 litres with the roof up and 172 litres with it down.
To improve comfort with the top lowered, a wind deflector is integrated into the backs of the rear seats. The driver can activate it at the touch of a button without stopping. The system, calibrated with a 101° opening angle, works at speeds up to 170 km/h and can be used up to the car's maximum speed when already deployed.
Performance and powertrain
The Spider is heavier than the coupe due to structural reinforcements for rigidity. It has a dry weight of 1,556 kg, compared to the coupe's 1,470 kg, and a weight distribution of 48% front and 52% rear.
Power comes from a F154 BH 3.9 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 640 PS at 7,500 rpm and 760 Nm of torque from 3,000 to 5,750 rpm. This output is 20 PS higher than the Roma Spider. An eight-speed Magna wet dual-clutch transmission, featuring a more powerful TCU and deeper engine software integration, sends power to the rear wheels.
| Performance Metric | Amalfi Spider | Amalfi Coupe |
|---|---|---|
| 0-100 km/h | 3.3 seconds | 3.3 seconds |
| 0-200 km/h | 9.4 seconds | 9.0 seconds |
| Top Speed | 320 km/h | 320 km/h |
Chassis and interior features
The Spider shares its technical revisions with the Amalfi coupe. These include the ABS Evo system from the 296 GTB, a reworked electric power steering setup, and a new brake-by-wire system for improved efficiency. The active rear aero system with Low Drag, Medium Downforce, and High Downforce modes is also present. The car rides on 20-inch wheels with 245/35 R20 front and 285/35 R20 rear tyres.
Inside, a new twin-cowl design replaces the Roma Spider's dual-cockpit layout. A 10.25-inch landscape infotainment screen and a traditionally-styled centre console, machined from a single aluminium block, house a "gated" gear selector and a wireless charger. The multi-function steering wheel returns to physical buttons and includes a start button. A 15.6-inch digital instrument cluster and an optional 8.8-inch passenger screen are featured, alongside Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Pricing and availability
No official Malaysian price was stated for the Spider at its debut. The source indicates it will be in the RM3 million plus region after import duties and taxes, excluding customisation, registration, and insurance. Given comparative pricing, this should exceed the RM3.2 million price of the Roma Spider when it launched in 2023. The model also debuts a new exterior colour called Rosso Tramonto, which Ferrari says has subtle orange undertones inspired by the Amalfi coast at sunset.
