Reviews: Spy shots reveal Hyundai's upcoming sub-4-meter electric SUV testing with the new Pleos Connect infotainment system

Hyundai's upcoming sub-4-meter electric SUV has been spied again, this time showing its interior. The latest spy shots, shared by azozofficial, reveal the presence of Hyundai's next-generation Pleos Connect infotainment system. The vehicle, codenamed HE1i, is slated for launch later this year or in early 2027 and will primarily compete with the Tata Punch EV.

This sighting is part of ongoing road tests for one of more than two dozen models Hyundai plans for the Indian market by FY2030. The new EV was also seen with sequential turn indicators. Hyundai India has confirmed the upcoming model will feature a next-gen infotainment setup.

Pleos Connect System Details

The Pleos Connect system, first seen on the Grandeur in Korea, aims to reduce driver information overload. It focuses on displaying core essentials like speed, efficiency, and available range. The system has also been introduced on other global models like the Ioniq 3, Elantra, and Tucson.

It comprises two screens: a large central touchscreen and a smaller digital display mounted on the dashboard within the driver's line of sight. The latest spy shots clearly show the slimmer dashboard-mounted unit. The larger central screen was covered but its outline was visible.

Hyundai uses standardized screen sizes for this system. However, in some countries, the company has made the smaller display an optional extra on base variants of select models.

Larger Central Touchscreen17-inch
Smaller Dashboard Display9.9-inch

Expected Features and Powertrain

Beyond the infotainment, the new compact electric SUV is expected to pack various premium features. These could include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a sunroof, and ventilated front seats. Its seating arrangement is rumoured to be highly customizable for practical and cargo-handling flexibility.

As a ground-up EV, it is anticipated to offer good interior space. A comprehensive safety suite is also expected, which could include up to seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a range of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Platform, Range, and Production Plans

The new SUV is likely based on a derivative of Hyundai's modular E-GMP (K) platform. It could be equipped with battery packs ranging from approximately 40 to 50 kWh in capacity. Sources indicate a claimed driving range of around 450 kilometers.

Considering the price-sensitive segment it will enter, the full Pleos package might be reserved for higher trim levels. The vehicle will be manufactured in India with a high level of localization. It is intended for both the domestic market and multiple global export markets. A starting price under Rs 10 lakh could be key to achieving Hyundai's desired sales volumes.
