MG has launched the Hector Tomahawk, a large three-row SUV for India, in both battery-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) forms.
MG has launched the Hector Tomahawk, a large three-row SUV for the Indian market. It is available as a battery-electric vehicle (EV) and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The starting price for the EV variant is 1.399 million rupees, which is approximately $14,600 USD. This price is for a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) package that does not include the battery pack itself. Buyers will pay a battery rental fee based on actual distance driven.
Despite its name, the Hector Tomahawk is not based on the existing MG Hector. According to the report from Carscoops, MG has instead rebadged and adapted the Wuling Starlight 560, which launched in China in late 2025. The SUV comes in both EV and PHEV configurations, with each having slightly different front-end styling.
The PHEV model features a front fascia painted in the same color as the body, a larger grille for the internal combustion engine, and black accents with silver skid plates. The EV has a simpler, more angular front-end design that more closely resembles the original Wuling Starlight 560. Both variants share identical dimensions.

Inside, the cabin can be configured with either two or three rows of seats. In the five-seat layout, boot space is 610 liters. With the third row deployed, cargo capacity shrinks to 192 liters. Standard equipment includes a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, an 8.8-inch full digital instrument cluster, and a finger-drawing gesture control system. Other features are a two-piece panoramic roof, 256-color ambient lighting, and a 10-speaker sound system.
A key selling point is an AI-powered personal assistant that can interact with occupants. It includes a karaoke function and access to a music library of over 8,000 songs across various genres, aiming to turn the cabin into an entertainment space for long journeys.
Powertrain and Performance
The Hector Tomahawk EV uses a single front-mounted electric motor producing 204 PS. It is paired with a 69.2 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of up to 500 km per charge. It supports DC fast charging at up to 90 kW and features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capabilities.
The PHEV variant employs a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that acts as a generator. It works with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery. MG claims a total driving range exceeding 1,100 km, with a pure-electric range of up to approximately 115 km.
Pricing and Availability
In India, the standard price for the Hector Tomahawk EV is between 1.949 million and 2.349 million rupees. The BaaS package reduces the car's price to 1.399 million rupees, with a battery rental fee of 4.90 rupees per kilometer. The PHEV model starts at 2.570 million rupees normally, or 2.179 million rupees with the BaaS option, which carries a rental fee of 3.20 rupees per kilometer. EV deliveries are scheduled to begin in September 2026, with the PHEV following in November 2026.
