Perodua ICE model set for Q2 2027 production
MCE Holdings secured RM54.28 million in supply contracts with Perodua for automotive electronics and mechatronic components for an ICE model, with production slated to begin in Q2 2027. The deal covers audio display, reverse-camera and ADAS-related parts.

MCE Holdings announced that it has secured RM54.28 million in supply contracts with Perodua, valid for 40 months or three years, to provide automotive electronics and mechatronic components for an internal combustion engine (ICE) model.
The contract covers a range of parts, including audio display, reverse-camera and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) related components. Production will start via subsidiary Multi-Code Electronics Industries in the fourth quarter of the financial year ending 31 July 2027, which translates to the second quarter of the next calendar year. The components will be built at the group’s newly-launched RM4.95 million MCE Auto Hub in Serendah, Selangor.
Supply Deal Details
MCE Holdings said the new ICE project marks the first time it supplies vehicle audio display and ADAS-related components for an ICE vehicle, adding to its contract to provide such components for the QV-E electric vehicle. The company’s group managing director Goh Kar Chun noted that the long-standing relationship with Perodua has allowed MCE to grow alongside the carmaker and move up the automotive value chain.
Production Timeline
The production schedule is set for Q4 FY ending 31 July 2027, meaning the new model will roll out in Q2 2028. The MCE Auto Hub, costing RM4.95 million, will house the manufacturing of the components.
Potential New Model
The source speculates that the new ICE model will likely be a refreshed Myvi, codenamed D10D, or a facelifted Bezza. The current Myvi is eight years old and the Bezza ten years old. The Myvi, once the best-seller, fell to fourth place behind the Bezza, Proton Saga and the smaller Axia as of last month. The Bezza remains Malaysia’s most popular car.
A teaser for the new model was shown at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS), featuring QV-E-inspired design cues. The relaxed timeline suggests Perodua is not in a hurry to debut the new model, even though the company is losing market share to a resurgent Proton.
The most likely new model is the Myvi D10D, which will use an updated version of the third-generation platform, itself related to the second-generation model. A next-generation Bezza is not expected before the end of the decade, but a major facelift could tide buyers over. Similar to the Saga’s recent MC3 revision, the budget sedan could see serious updates, including the much-needed six airbags.
Component Strategy
The revelation that the unknown model uses the same infotainment and ADAS supplier as the fully home-grown QV-E suggests that Perodua is taking greater control of those systems. Currently, Perodua’s ICE models take their driver assists from Daihatsu, whereas the QV-E’s systems were developed in-house, much like most of the car. As Perodua gains more experience in developing its own indigenous models, the only parts Daihatsu supplies may eventually be the engine and gearbox.
Future Powertrain Outlook
Whichever form this new car takes, it will almost certainly continue to utilise the Toyota/Daihatsu NR range of four-cylinder engines, offered in 95 PS 1.3 litre 1NR-VE and 103 PS 1.5 litre 2NR-VE variants and paired with a Dual-Mode CVT (D-CVT). Perodua also has aspirations to bring hybrid powertrains to market, and this new model could be the perfect springboard.
The model could use either Daihatsu’s e-Smart Hybrid - which uses the electric motor for propulsion and the combustion engine solely as a generator - or Toyota’s system from the Vios and Yaris Cross that features a planetary gearset to manage the two power sources. The forthcoming Ativa Hybrid will likely lead the car in bringing a petrol-electric powertrain to market.
| Engine | Power (PS) | Displacement |
|---|---|---|
| 1NR-VE | 95 | 1.3 l |
| 2NR-VE | 103 | 1.5 l |
The MCE contract period of three years will supply Perodua up to 2030, which aligns with the expected arrival of the next Bezza at the end of the decade.
The new ICE model’s launch will be announced in the coming months, with the first reveal likely at a major automotive event. For more details on Perodua’s current lineup and sales performance, see our stats and standings pages. The teaser shown at KLIMS can be viewed in our fixtures section.
