Polestar 4 SUV Launches with 630 km Range
Polestar launches the Polestar 4 SUV with more cargo space and a rear windshield. It has 544 horsepower and a WLTP range up to 630 km.

Polestar officially launched the Polestar 4 SUV on September 2, 2026. The new model is based on the existing Polestar 4 Coupé but features a more upright rear end design to increase versatility and cargo space, according to the company's announcement reported by Headlightmag.
A key highlight is the addition of a physical rear windshield, which improves rearward visibility. When the cargo area is fully loaded, drivers can still see behind via a camera system. The SUV retains the coupe's aerodynamic silhouette, signature Dual Blade headlights, and illuminated Polestar logo. The redesigned rear features a straighter roof line and a more vertical tailgate. Eight exterior colors are available, including new Aurora Gold and Ozone White finishes, which can be specified with a matte surface. A full-length roof rail can support a dynamic load of up to 100 kilograms.
Interior and Technology
The cabin continues the minimalist, tech-focused theme. An ambient lighting system, inspired by the solar system, allows occupants to select interior atmosphere themes. The central horizontal touchscreen and driver's display remain the digital hub, with the number of shortcut widgets on the home screen increased from six to nine. A 12-speaker, 1,400-watt Harman Kardon Premium Sound system is available as an option and has been specifically tuned for the SUV body style.
The SUV's rear design provides an extra 2.5 centimeters of headroom for second-row passengers. A larger panoramic glass roof extends further back. The standard glass roof blocks 99.5% of UV rays, while an electrochromic glass roof, which can be electrically adjusted for opacity, is a unique option for the SUV variant.
Practicality and Cargo
Practicality is a major upgrade over the coupe. The Polestar 4 SUV offers a total cargo capacity of up to 1,680 liters. The rear trunk measures 530 liters to the seatback level, expanding to 655 liters when measured to the roof. With the 60:40 split rear seats folded, maximum cargo space reaches 1,665 liters. An additional 15-liter frunk (front trunk) is also included.
Powertrain and Performance
The SUV is built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform and is offered with two powertrain options, both featuring a standard 100 kWh battery pack supporting DC fast charging up to 200 kW and AC charging up to 22 kW in some markets.
| Model | Power (hp) | Torque (Nm) | 0-100 km/h (sec) | WLTP Range (km) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rear motor | 272 | 343 | 7.3 | 630 |
| Dual motor AWD | 544 | 686 | 3.9 | 600 |
For enhanced dynamics, an optional Performance Pack includes a retuned suspension, ZF adaptive dampers, high-performance Brembo brakes with Swedish Gold calipers, and 22-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires.
Features and Availability
The vehicle supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, providing up to 3.3 kW of external power. A Camping Mode transforms the car into a resting space with controlled climate and entertainment. The Google Gemini system allows for natural language commands to control vehicle functions, plan routes, and translate languages.
Production takes place at the Busan plant in South Korea, with the assembly line active since the second quarter of 2026. First customer deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter of the same year. German market pricing starts at 57,900 euros for the Rear motor model and 65,900 euros for the Dual motor AWD. The Performance Pack variant starts at 76,300 euros. These prices include value-added tax but exclude delivery fees.
