Jaguar Land Rover has commenced bookings for the Range Rover Electric in India for a token amount of Rs 10 lakh. This marks the debut of the brand's first pure electric Range Rover model, which will be manufactured in the UK and imported as a completely built unit.

The SUV utilizes an 800-volt architecture with a 118.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack powering two in-house electric motors. The system generates a combined 550 PS and 850 Nm of torque, the highest torque figure ever for a Range Rover. According to JLR, this output provides 12 hp and 100 Nm more than the mild-hybrid twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 model.

Robust Off-Road Capabilities

Land Rover states the electric SUV maintains the brand's off-road prowess. It features twin-valve active dampers from the Range Rover Sport SV, dual-chamber air springs, and rear-axle steering. The vehicle has a water wading depth of 900 mm, with sensors that actively increase ride height based on water levels.

A new Integrated Traction Management system is designed to handle slippery terrain, while the Driveline Dynamics system allows it to tackle inclines up to 33 degrees and steep climbs of 45 degrees. With a weight of 2,885 kg, it is 75 kg heavier than the plug-in hybrid variant. Its towing capacity is rated at 2.5 tons, which is lower than the 3.5 tons for internal combustion engine models and 3 tons for plug-in hybrid models.

Exterior and Interior Features

Externally, the design closely follows the fifth-generation internal combustion model launched in 2021, with a more contemporary grille and new alloy wheels. Underbody modifications for electric vehicle packaging have reduced the drag coefficient by 0.01 Cd, which JLR says can increase highway range by approximately 16 km.

The electric Range Rover is offered in standard and long-wheelbase versions across multiple trim levels: SE, Autobiography, SV, SV Black, and SV Ultra. A curated First Edition is available in specific colors with unique interior fabrics. A wide range of Bespoke customization options are also offered.

The interior layout is largely familiar, sharing the dashboard, steering wheel, and digital screens with other models. EV-specific additions include an AI-based range predictor and a battery health monitor. Other features include premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated, heated, massaging seats with multi-zone climate control.

Official pricing for India has not been announced. Industry estimates suggest a starting price around Rs 3.5 crore. In the United States, the model starts at $138,000.
