The Xpeng Mona L05, a mid-size electric SUV, has been spotted testing in China ahead of its planned global launch in late 2026.
The Xpeng Mona L05 has been photographed during road testing in China. The mid-size electric SUV is slated for a global launch in late 2026, according to a report from Headlightmag that cites Carnewschina.
Spy images show the vehicle in a light green finish with privacy glass for the rear windows. It features yellow brake calipers and a camera for blind-spot detection mounted on the front fender. The design follows the Mona family style with a closed-off front end, Y-shaped LED headlights, and a low-slung hood.
Exterior and interior design
Other exterior details include semi-concealed door handles and a floating roof design. The full-width taillight bar and 20-inch alloy wheels are also present. The cabin continues the minimalist theme seen in the smaller L03 model. A large central screen dominates the dashboard, housing climate controls. A two-spoke oval steering wheel sits ahead of a gear selector stalk.
The center console provides storage space, two cup holders, and a wireless phone charger. Door panels are simplified with few physical buttons.
Powertrain and range specifications
The L05 will be offered with two different electric powertrains. The pure-electric BEV variant uses a single rear-mounted motor producing 245 horsepower. It is paired with a 71.1 kWh LFP battery, providing a CLTC-rated range between 615 and 660 kilometers.
The range-extender EREV model uses the same electric motor but adds a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine. This engine generates 94 horsepower and acts solely as a generator to charge the battery. The EREV version carries a smaller 37.2 kWh LFP battery, enabling an electric-only CLTC range of approximately 237 to 253 kilometers.

Market positioning and global plans
Xpeng is accelerating its international expansion, with the Mona family as a key product line. The company recently launched the Mona L03 SUV simultaneously in China and overseas markets. In China, the L03 is priced between 123,800 and 156,800 yuan. This strategy makes it highly likely the larger L05 will also be exported shortly after its debut. The model will become the third and largest member of the Mona lineup, following the M03 sedan and L03 crossover.
Dimensions filed with China's MIIT ministry list the L05 at 4,870 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, and 1,636 mm tall, with a 2,940 mm wheelbase.
