Compare: Honda has launched its QC3 electric scooter in India at Rs 1.35 lakh

Honda has launched its QC3 electric scooter in India at a price of Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This marks the brand's third electric scooter for the market, following the QC1 and the Activa e:.

The QC3 is positioned as a family-oriented electric vehicle. It is equipped with a 3kWh battery pack. Honda states a full charge takes approximately four hours, while reaching 80 percent capacity requires two hours and 40 minutes. Initial availability will be limited to five cities: Delhi, Agra, Cuttack, Surat, and Kollam. A wider, phased nationwide rollout is planned for a later date.

Key features and specifications

The scooter aims to address criticisms of its predecessors. According to Autocar India, both the QC1 and Activa e: were previously considered under-equipped for their prices. The QC3 responds with a larger battery than the QC1's 1.5kWh unit and promises more range than the Activa e:'s claimed 102km (IDC).

Key features include a hub-mounted motor, a front disc brake, and a 5-inch TFT display. This display supports turn-by-turn navigation through Honda's Roadsync connectivity system. A significant practical upgrade is the under-seat storage, which Honda has revealed as 32 litres. This is larger than the QC1's 26-litre capacity and a major improvement over the Activa e:, whose boot was mostly filled by its removable battery.

Market positioning and rivals

Local manufacturing has helped Honda price the QC3 more competitively than its earlier electric models. It is offered in four colour options: Matt Photon Gray Metallic, Pearl Precious White, Pearl Shallow Blue, and Pearl Siren Blue.

At its launch price, the QC3 enters a crowded segment of electric scooters. The source report positions it against several key rivals, with the following ex-showroom Delhi prices:

ModelPrice (Ex-showroom, Delhi)
Honda QC3Rs 1.35 lakh
TVS iQube 3.1kWhRs 1.30 lakh
Chetak C3502Rs 1.44 lakh
Vida VX2 Plus 3.1Rs 1.03 lakh
Ather Konarc S 161Rs 1.45 lakh

Availability and future plans

Honda has not specified a date for the start of customer deliveries. For residents in the five launch cities, bookings are now open. These can be made through Honda's official website or at nearby RedWing dealerships with a booking amount of Rs 5,000.

The launch of the QC3 means Honda has now revealed pricing for seven of the ten new products it announced in July. According to the source, the models still pending launch are the XR300L, the XR300 Rally, and the twin-cylinder Rebel 500.
