Hyundai announced at its 2026 CEO Investor Day that it will launch 26 new models and updates in India by 2030. The plan includes an all-new A-segment electric SUV and a new ICE-powered midsize SUV based on the Bayon.

New A-segment Electric SUV

Hyundai will start its next product offensive with an all-new A-segment electric SUV in the fourth quarter of 2026. The model is being localised and developed specifically for Indian buyers. Test mules of the compact EV have already been spotted on Indian roads. While Hyundai has not revealed its specifications, it has confirmed a next-generation infotainment system and Level 2 ADAS. Battery capacity, certified range and production specifications are expected to be disclosed closer to launch. The compact dimensions should make it suitable for congested urban environments, while extensive localisation could allow Hyundai to price it competitively. The new model will sit below the Creta Electric and help Hyundai reach a wider section of India’s electric-car market. The launch will be tracked in the fixtures of the Indian market.

Bayon-Based Midsize SUV

Hyundai has also officially confirmed a new ICE-powered midsize SUV for India. Spy shots indicate that development is already underway, with test vehicles seen running under camouflage. The upcoming SUV is expected to be based on the globally available Hyundai Bayon. However, the India-spec model could receive significant design, dimensional and equipment changes to suit local preferences. It will compete against models such as the Maruti Victoris and other similarly positioned SUVs. Multiple powertrain options are expected, including petrol and factory-fitted CNG. A CNG version will allow Hyundai to compete directly with Maruti Suzuki’s expanding alternative-fuel portfolio. Details regarding engines, transmissions and its positioning relative to Creta are yet to be officially announced. Engineers from the squad will oversee localisation.

Production and Localisation Expansion

Hyundai plans to add 3.2 lakh units to its annual Indian manufacturing capacity by 2030. Its manufacturing facilities in India currently have a combined capacity of around 11 lakh vehicles annually. The company is targeting 90% local content across its India-made vehicles by 2030. This localisation push will be supported by more than 1,400 domestic suppliers and over 900 local engineers. India will continue to serve as one of Hyundai’s major global export hubs. Around 30% of its Indian production is expected to be exported to markets in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America by 2030. Hyundai has reiterated its electric three-wheeler partnership with TVS Motor. The vehicles will be designed by Hyundai and manufactured by TVS. The luxury brand Genesis India launch is planned for 2027.
