Hyundai Offers Free EV Charging For Three Days In India
Hyundai Motor India is providing complimentary charging at its public stations from September 9-11, 2026, to mark World EV Day.

Hyundai Motor India has announced three days of free charging for electric vehicle owners to celebrate World EV Day 2026. According to the company, the complimentary charging will be available at Hyundai-owned public stations from September 9 to September 11. Access requires using the myHyundai app.
Alongside this promotional offer, Hyundai has opened new 120 kW DC fast public charging stations in New Delhi. These chargers were established in partnership with Statiq and can be accessed via the myHyundai app and other major charging-management applications.
Charging Network Expansion Plans
Hyundai's current charging infrastructure in India consists of 185 DC fast-charging stations spread across 105 cities. The company states that charging capacity across this network ranges from 60 kW to 240 kW. A significant expansion is planned, with Hyundai targeting 600 proprietary charging stations by 2030. These are intended for key cities, highways, and Hyundai dealerships.
The myHyundai app provides access beyond Hyundai's own network. Through partnerships with multiple Charge Point Operators, the platform offers connectivity to more than 38,000 charging points. The app supports charger discovery, navigation, advance booking, and digital payments for EV users across all brands.
Dealership Readiness For Electric Vehicles
Hyundai is preparing its sales and service network for increased electric vehicle adoption. The company reports that more than 10,000 sales personnel have already received EV-related training. This number is targeted to rise to over 17,000 by the end of the 2026-27 financial year.
On the service side, Hyundai currently has over 2,600 trained dealership personnel for EV-related functions. An additional 5,000 service personnel are planned to receive training by the end of FY26-27. The company aims to expand its EV-ready presence to 820 sales touchpoints and 650 workshops within the same timeframe. Workshops are being equipped with specialised tools for high-voltage safety, diagnostics, and battery handling.
Upcoming Mass-Market Electric SUV
As part of its World EV Day announcements, Hyundai reiterated plans for a localised mass-market electric SUV built on a dedicated EV platform. The company currently sells the Creta Electric as its mainstream electric SUV and the Ioniq 5 at the premium end. The upcoming model is expected to broaden Hyundai's reach in India's mass-market EV segment, with a launch anticipated later this year. Hyundai's mention of this model alongside its charging and network expansion highlights its preparations for a wider electric portfolio.
