Jeep reveals retro-styled Wrangler JL-2A
Jeep has unveiled the Wrangler JL-2A, a 2027 special edition paying tribute to the 1945 Willys CJ-2A. The package adds retro-themed styling inside and out to the Wrangler Rubicon for a price of USD 4,995, with orders opening in October.
Jeep has revealed the 2027 Wrangler JL-2A, a special edition model designed as a tribute to the 1945 Willys CJ-2A. According to a report from Autocar India, the JL-2A is based on the Wrangler Rubicon and features a range of cosmetic changes inspired by the brand's first civilian vehicle, while its off-road hardware remains unchanged. Orders for the package are set to open in October.
Exterior styling
The two-door version of the JL-2A is finished in Gobi paint, a color inspired by the Harvest Tan offered on the original CJ-2A. The four-door model uses an olive green shade called '41. Both body styles can also be ordered in Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost, or Joose. All versions ride on 17-inch Joose-painted retro wheels paired with 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires.
Exterior accents include orange tow hooks at the front and rear, Dark Metallic Grey trim on the seven-slot grille, and body-colour fender flares. The vehicle comes with a three-piece hardtop. A unique plaque on the rear swing gate recreates the artwork from the original CJ-2A's dashboard data plate, featuring scenes of farms and factories.
Interior features
Inside, the cabin is trimmed with Nappa Heritage Tan leather seats. Brown door panels, a lower instrument panel, and a centre console are paired with contrast orange stitching. The gear shifter features a Willys-Overland badge. The HVAC vents are decorated with graphics; one side shows a seven-slot grille and the other a Willys silhouette.
The Convenience Group is standard equipment. It includes remote start, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a universal garage door opener. A front TrailCam with an integrated washer is also fitted as standard.
Powertrain and capability
Jeep has announced no mechanical changes for the JL-2A special edition. Based on the Wrangler Rubicon, it retains that model's off-road hardware. This includes electronic locking differentials at the front and rear, an electronic sway-bar disconnect, and the Rock-Trac HD 4x4 system.
The Wrangler Rubicon is typically offered with two engine options, though Jeep has not specified which will be available for the JL-2A.
