Toyota Land Cruiser FJ launched in Indonesia

Toyota Indonesia has unveiled the Land Cruiser FJ for the local market, importing the complete vehicle from its Thai plant. The announcement comes without an official retail price, but a special introductory rate has been disclosed.

Launch and Variants

The Indonesian version of the Land Cruiser FJ is available in two trims: the standard Land Cruiser FJ and the Land Cruiser FJ Adventure Type. Both models come equipped with factory-installed roof rails, a feature that is standard across the lineup.

The Adventure Type distinguishes itself with a set of unique exterior touches. It sports round LED headlights, a front bumper that incorporates the Adventurous Corner design, and a body colour option in green Oxide Bronze. These styling cues set the Adventure Type apart from the regular trim.

Engine and Transmission

Both trims share the same 2.7-liter gasoline engine, the 2TR-FE, which is a 4-stroke inline-four with an EFi DOHC 16-valve Dual VVT-i system. The engine displaces 2,694 cc, has a bore and stroke of 95.0 mm, and a compression ratio of 10.2:1. It delivers a maximum power of 166 hp at 5,200 rpm and peak torque of 245 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

The powerplant is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission featuring Sequential Shift. The vehicle is driven by a part-time 4WD system that includes a rear differential lock.

Pricing and Availability

Toyota Indonesia has announced a special introductory price of 1,269,000 baht for the Land Cruiser FJ with the 2.7-liter engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. The special rate is valid until 31 August 2026, after which the price will rise by 20,000 baht to a regular 1,289,000 baht.

The vehicle is currently being imported from Thailand, and the Indonesian launch follows a successful export run of over 18,000 units. In Thailand, the Land Cruiser FJ has already been delivered to about 1,800 customers, with a total of 3,200 bookings since its March 2026 launch.

Market Impact

The introduction of the Land Cruiser FJ may influence the competitive landscape for large SUVs in Indonesia. Analysts suggest that the new model could affect the stats of the region, as it brings a proven off-road platform with a premium price point.

Toyota Indonesia has provided images of the Indonesian version from KOMPAS photographer Ruly Kurniawan, and the information has been compiled by autolifethailand.

The launch of the Land Cruiser FJ marks a significant expansion of Toyota’s presence in the Indonesian market, offering a robust off-road option for buyers seeking durability and performance.
