JSW MG Motor India delivered 50 Hector Tomahawk EVs to customers in Surat in a single day on September 28, 2026. The mass handover signals robust early demand for the company's latest electric SUV, which uses an innovative battery-as-a-service financing plan.
"JSW MG Motor India has delivered 50 Hector Tomahawk EVs to customers in Surat in a single day," the company said. The event marks a significant milestone for the recently launched model. MG plans to expand Hector Tomahawk EV and PHEV availability to other cities following the Surat delivery milestone.
EV specifications and BaaS pricing structure
The electric variant is built around a 69.2 kWh MAGIC Battery paired with a 150 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 310 Nm of torque. MG quotes a certified range of 517 km and support for DC fast charging at up to 90 kW. The SUV is offered in both five- and seven-seat configurations.
A key sales feature is the Battery-as-a-Service option. This allows buyers to purchase the vehicle at a lower upfront cost while renting the battery. The introductory BaaS price starts at ₹13.99 lakh, plus a battery rental fee of ₹4.90 per kilometre driven. Customers who prefer to own the entire vehicle, including the battery, face a higher initial cost.

PHEV variant offers hybrid flexibility with distinct pricing
Alongside the EV, MG offers a plug-in hybrid Hector Tomahawk PHEV. This variant combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 20.5 kWh battery and a dedicated hybrid transmission. It is available exclusively as a seven-seater. MG claims over 115 km of pure-electric range and a total combined range exceeding 1,100 km with a full tank and charge. The electric motor produces 148 kW, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of approximately nine seconds.
The PHEV also features four drive modes: Pure Electric, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid, and Engine Direct Drive. It introduces Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capability, described by the company as a first for India in this segment. Its BaaS pricing starts at ₹21.79 lakh plus ₹3.20 per km, while the full-vehicle ex-showroom price begins at ₹25.69 lakh.
Safety, tech, and battery durability highlights
Both Tomahawk variants come with a comprehensive safety suite. This includes six airbags, electronic stability program, traction control, hill hold control, ABS with EBD, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems and a 360-degree camera are also part of the equipment range.
Inside, technology is centred on the i-SMART 3.0 connected car system with a GenAI-powered voice assistant. Depending on the variant, the cabin features a 15.6-inch touchscreen, an 8.8-inch driver display, a panoramic sunroof, and powered front-seat adjustment.
MG emphasises the durability of its MAGIC Battery. It states the pack passed extreme safety tests including needle penetration without fire, 180-degree thermal shock, and short-circuit testing at 55 degrees. The battery can withstand up to 40% cell deformation. Over 2,000 bench tests and 490 full-vehicle validation tests were conducted. A battery management system monitors cell health in real time, and MG offers a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner of both EV and PHEV versions, subject to terms.
The SUV measures 4,745 mm in length, 2,130 mm in width including mirrors, and 1,770 mm in height. It rides on a 2,810 mm wheelbase with 230 mm of ground clearance at the battery. Boot space is up to 610 litres in the five-seater configuration with all rows in use. The EV is offered in six single-tone colours: Pearl White, Starry Black, Aurora Silver, Celadon Blue, Shadow Gold, and Khaki Green.
