BMW Motorrad has unveiled the F 450 R naked roadster. The bike is powered by a 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 48.6 PS at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. It shares its frame and engine platform with the TVS-manufactured F 450 GS adventure model.

Variants and feature breakdown

Four variants are announced: Base, Exclusive, M Sport, and M Sport with Innovation Package. Features escalate across the range, with the top specifications gaining advanced electronics and adjustable suspension.

The optional Easy Ride Clutch allows moving off, stopping, and gear changes without operating the clutch lever. Riders still select gears manually, and the traditional clutch lever remains available. Top-spec variants also get Riding Modes Pro with a Dynamic Pro mode and three sport-focused display screens.

Chassis, suspension, and braking details

The F 450 R uses a tubular steel space frame with an aluminium double-sided swingarm. Suspension is handled by a 43mm KYB inverted fork at the front and a KYB central spring strut at the rear. With the Sport Suspension, the fork is adjustable for rebound and compression damping, while the rear shock is adjustable for spring preload and rebound damping.

Braking consists of single discs at both ends. The front uses a 310 mm disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc fixed caliper. The rear employs a 240 mm disc with a floating ByBre single-piston caliper. Switchable ABS is standard. The bike rolls on 17-inch cast-aluminium wheels, with a 110-section front tyre and a 150-section rear tyre.

Electronics, ergonomics, and practicality

Standard equipment includes a 6.5-inch TFT display with connectivity for call alerts, music controls, and turn-by-turn navigation. A USB-C port is fitted for device charging. Other features include all-LED lighting, heated grips, traction control, and a slipper clutch.

The standard two-piece seat height is 790 mm, with optional low (775 mm) and high (810 mm) seats available. The fuel tank capacity is 14 litres. BMW claims a mileage of 26 kmpl, suggesting a potential range of over 250 km. The ready-to-ride weight is 175 kg.

Depending on the variant, the bike comes with three standard riding modes: Rain, Road, and Dynamic. Local pricing and variant availability for the F 450 R in India are awaited.
