The Skoda Slavia facelift introduces a segment-first rear-seat massage function, a new 8-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0 TSI engine, and AI-powered infotainment with Google Cloud. Production has started at Skoda's Chakan plant in Pune, with the launch expected ahead of the festive season.

One of the biggest changes is the new 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, replacing the previous 6-speed unit. Another major addition is an AI Companion powered by Google Cloud. The air-conditioning system now uses a variable-geometry compressor instead of a fixed-geometry unit.

Design, technology and safety updates

Exterior changes include a revised LED daytime-running-light signature, updated front and rear bumper detailing, and sequential turn indicators. New exterior colour options include Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige.

The sedan also gets a 360-degree Area View camera, replacing the previous rear-view-only camera. Inside, the infotainment screen is upgraded from 10 inches to 10.1 inches, while the driver’s display grows from 8 inches to 10.25 inches. The pre-facelift Slavia received a full 5-star crash safety rating from Global NCAP.

Powertrain and transmission details

The Slavia uses the MQB A0 IN platform, shared with the Kushaq and Volkswagen Virtus. It retains two engine options, with the new 8-speed automatic available from the second-to-base Classic+ trim for the smaller engine.

1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol115hp178Nm6-speed manual, new 8-speed torque converter automatic (Aisin AQ300)
1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol150hp250Nm7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG)

The expected 0-100kph time for the 1.0 TSI with the new 8-speed automatic is around 11 seconds. The pre-facelift Slavia 1.5 TSI DSG achieved the sprint in 8.96 seconds. The unladen ground clearance is 179mm and boot capacity is 521 litres.

Market position and availability

The Slavia continues to compete with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Volkswagen Virtus. Skoda says the sedan now holds close to 30 per cent of its segment, with nearly 80,000 units sold since its launch in 2022.

A review of the facelift noted that "the new gearbox brings a welcome improvement to the Slavia’s low-speed manners." With production now underway, the updated sedan will bring a new automatic gearbox along with several technology and comfort upgrades. The facelifted Slavia is set to arrive in India soon.
